Introducing Myself (My Job)

China Technical Consultants Incorporated (CTCI) is a global engineering service provider and there are over 7000 employees working in worldwide. I am working in CTCI’s Instrument & Control Department in head office in Taipei. It has been five years passed since I came to CTCI and also I have learned many skills especially in project management.

As an instrument engineer must be very busy in a project because most of plant needs over thousand different kinds of instruments installed in the field. From time to time the process condition may change frequently influenced design schedule. Instrument design group can be divided into four teams, instrument team, control team, detail design team and packaged drawing-review team. The number of required member for each team is depended on the how many instruments required.

Now I am involving to build a chemical plant in Dai-Lin of Kaosiung for China Petroleum Company and I am as a unit leader. In my unit, the detail design work was subcontracted to affiliated company in Vietnam, others team members are task force in our head office included two Vietnamese engineer. As a leader the coordination ability is most important.

I usually call small meeting when any problem come out especially the problem between two engineers or two teams. Each member has own experience and idea for doing particular things, but sometime disagreement with other people. In the meantime, leader must stand out and call each of them to discuss the problem and find the good solution. I try my best to do my work as a good coordinator. Finally, I hope the plant can be hand over in January 2011 smoothly at all.
